I'm not very active on the site, usually "park" my account to keep it from getting deleted, so it's great to have the URL for the login.

And no, no harm done by posting this, per comments above about the site not allowing any RIAA stuff.

Bummer about Oink, but it was just a matter of time. Others like it will spring up somehow. Genie's out of the bottle.

Indietorrent has a good model. They don't allow lossless posts, because (as they say) the place to get those is at the record store. Please, pass the tinfoil.

IT's actions alone speak for their desire to remain under the radar. That sentiment does not need to be broadcasted to be obvious.

As one of the oldest surviving well-known music trackers, IT is already common knowledge in the bittorrent community. Anyone who was sincerely interested in our content and way of doing things probably already was a member. It's not like it was that hard to find an invite for a determined person truly passionate about independent music. If not, and they are only now finding about about us, ok. Just chill and wait for things to blow over.

You are right, there is no right on the part of indietorrents nor an obligation for this blogger or others. However, as kindred spirits among the music enthusiast file-sharing community, I would think the respect I speak of earlier would just be common decency.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399236165885232892.post-19498151332476844922007-10-25T17:24:00.000-07:002007-10-25T17:24:00.000-07:00I feel like this is the same kind of sentiment as ...I feel like this is the same kind of sentiment as when the US government has these public buildings that everyone knows about and they try to suppress any knowledge of it or get upset when someone draws attention to it. The US agencies then proceed to subsequently harass them for it. And for what? This has happened to me trying to photograph different public buildings. I say that to draw out similarities between our post 9/11 government and those people here that are slandering the writer for writing about this. The respect you are talking about is abstract and as far as I can tell unfounded. I have no knowledge of the admins of Indietorrents stating that they would rather not be blogged about. Even if they did what right do they have? They have a public Internet address that anyone can access and that anyone should be able to talk about. Anytime someone tries to suppress knowledge with this generation we disseminate it. In general I see a real double standard here. To try and suppress such blatantly public knowledge is asinine and amounts to what the different organizations tried to do when the HD-DVD key was released. The more you suppress the more we disseminate. I by the way am a member of indietorrents.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399236165885232892.post-68858443814998623402007-10-25T15:40:00.000-07:002007-10-25T15:40:00.000-07:00It's about respecting the wishes of another long-s...It's about respecting the wishes of another long-standing bittorrent community that has been around as long as or even longer than OPP was. Admins of these other sites are all volunteers donating their time & money to provide a resource for the community. Of course a few minor cosmetic changes are not going to keep indietorrents or other sites from the prying eyes of the RIAA et al. But minimizing the amount of undesired attention is perfectly reasonable and prudent. Considering IT & libble are both not accepting new members and don't want to be blogged about here or elsewhere, the considerate thing to do would be to leave them alone.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399236165885232892.post-47015046541010019252007-10-25T14:55:00.000-07:002007-10-25T14:55:00.000-07:00I can't believe all of you people who are upset ab...I can't believe all of you people who are upset about this. As if changing that homepage would stop anyone for any long period of time. Being that IT doesn't carry RIAA or BPI related records who is there to care what goes on?
