Waffles.fm vs. What.cd vs. Libble vs. Stmusic Vs. Funkytorrents

So we're almost 2 weeks into the Post OiNK Internet.

Let's check in with our favorite trackers and take a look at stats, Shall we?

Waffles.fm
Registered users 2,262
Torrents 13,566

STMusic.org
Registered users 42,455
Torrents 23,971

FunkyTorrents.com
Registered users 12,500
Torrents 10,016

What.cd
Registered users 8,584
Torrents 14,739

Libble.com
Registered users 5,473
Torrents 9,976

So as you can see Waffles.fm has the highest torrent to user ratio which bodes well for a community. You need some really dedicated users to bring in the casual users that don't upload torrents but are happy to seed the stuff the download.

Libble had the smallest gain from last week. Here are the numbers from the last time we checked in:

What.cd 5,458 users 9,997 torrents

Libble.com 5,566 users 9,028 torrents

stmusic.org 33,686 users 19,834 torrents

Funkytorrents.com 12,500 users 9,669 torrents

What's crazy is all the hype around Waffles where as STMusic still has it's torrent count beat by almost double. But if Waffles gained 13k torrents in less than a week with only a fraction of the users STMusic has this could bode well for them.

Stay tuned....

Libble is garbage.

-Wait times
-Horrible staff
-Located in the UK and mentioned in major press there (not good for future)

I was glad to give up my account there and suggest all former Oinkers that joined there after the destruction to do the same. Let the jerks have their shithole.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. I just deleted my account there. It's garbage compared to the other alternatives.o

i understand they are trying to take it slow but it seems awfully hard to get an account on waffles or what.cd. i uploaded over a terrabyte to oink and was a member for more than three years. youd think theyd want to get me onboard instead of jumping through hoops. maybe im just being impatient.

i miss oink.cd ;(

I like to talk about stool.

Can someone tell me with any certainty where Waffles is located? I know the founder is from Ireland, but some people are saying the server is in the states, others are saying it's in Sweeden. Which one is true?

Also, where the hell is What.cd located?

Anonymous said...

Is there anyway that waffles.fm or what.cd could be a sting operation to catch former oink users?

Anonymous said...

"Some people"
lol

The first month it's going to be hosted with LeaseWeb, in the Netherlands, then it's going to move to PRQ in Stockholm.

Also, what.cd's servers are at LeaseWeb.

Did waffles respond to any of those Prove You Were An OiNK Member e-mails?

Not only was I supposedly on the e-mail list, I also sent in proof of being a frequently uploading OiNK member...one who uploads advance releases.

But I haven't heard anything from them. I don't get it.

stmusic is awesome. I wish everyone would just go there... they already have a great start... waay more torrents than anyone else... who cares about that one good week for waffles uploads... plus since they stopped letting people in, their ratio can only get worse...

Anonymous said...

i'm just glad i'm a member of funkytorrents, stmusic, what.cd AND waffles.

i'm set.

Both what.cd [85.17.201.73] and waffles.fm [85.17.19.102] are located on servers hosted by LeaseWeb in The Netherlands.

That's the same network as Filelist, Oink (when they got busted), Scenetorrents, STMusic and plenty of other torrent sites.

Anonymous said...

Some of the libble users were A$$holes to us oinkers but I dont know if I will delete my account or not....I know if I do I have a 20 gig buffer to kill first :P

Anonymous said...

I like what, funky and ST isn't too bad for some random downloads. Haven't logged into Libble for days, almost forgotten I had it.

Dunno about waffles, but so far just sounds like a painful of getting some damn music, all the fuss and bickering and juvenile power displays.
Pfft.

Unknown said...

Both what, and waffles are located in the same location as oink was until the pirate bays servers have room again.

Anonymous said...

why ask that if you're not an IFPI spy?! Ruuuun!!!

Anonymous said...

STM is non-invite still, as more ex-oinkers join and share their stuff it should do well. Their rules and stuff already changing to be more oink-like. Don't stress about what and waffles, just get on with it at STM

Anonymous said...

I was just going to be an ST user but I woke up this morning and bam had a waffles invite in my mailbox, gotta look at both now

Anonymous said...

I was on OINK and STMUSIC.

I 4 sure do not care about w. and w.
ST Music is doing a good job.
For the time being.

Patience my friends. Things are going to change. Or at least have to.

Join the torrentcommmunityboards. Let the musicindustry know what we need and what's the best. Write articles etc. to press and politicians etc.

Radiohead and Trent are pioneers but we were first. Remember that.

So do not follow the hype of some "kids" trying to "imitate" OINK. Thats not possible in that way. It will not bring back the magical spirit and the real purpose of the case is more important.

Sites will get taken down, again and too bad. People will be sented to prison. As stupid as it sounds.

We need for a good representative for "us". Like TPB and OINK are doing.

... more later ....

anyone have problems with st at the moment?

Anonymous said...

STM seems to have disappeared already, hope its just a temporary blip

Anonymous said...

stm is back up.

Waffles.cd current stats:
Registered users 4,708
Torrents 19,543

It will take a few days and then Waffles has more torrents then STM so I think the community at Waffles is a lot more dedicated. Also Free Leech at Waffles currently and invite system is opened again.

SalmonGod said...

I got my waffles invite almost 2 days ago now... before that I checked out STMusic and Funkytorrents and Libble and wasnt impressed with any of those...

right now, waffles is looking very oink-like... their rules and organization are almost spot on with Oink, and it looks like they're even set to improve on a couple things...

I think it's great that they're being selective with the first wave of users they let into the site... it just means that as it begins to grow faster, new users will be presented with the best possible environment right off the bat

I've also seen two Free Leech periods since I joined up, which are really helping to get the whole ratio economy moving... they seem to understand what needs to be done

when they expand to accomodate e-books, apps, etc (which they have plainly stated they will do once things settle) I'll be very happy... after the first few months of musical gluttony, I used Oink for books and trying new apps more than anything else

Anonymous said...

all the story with waffles is the curiosity everyone have to join & see what it is & start trading their invites.

the best tracker for now is ST music i like it very much and staff there make their best.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have a screenshot of waffles? And how can you "prove" you were a member of OiNK first if you don't have any email adress or contact information to send this "prove" to, thats the part that bugs me...

Anonymous said...

i actually like libble. it was the first site that opened its doors to me as a complete stranger and embraced what i had to offer. on the IRCs it really seemed like there was a strong sence of community in the place. it's just my experience though...

at this point i'm a member of what, waffles and libble, and i like all three. go figure.

What.cd :

Registered users 13037
Torrents 18123

Seeders 25570
Leechers 1332
Seeder/leecher ratio 19.2

As a member of waffles, I can personally attest that its a site that is coming along nicely. I am willing to bet most of the people on here are either sucking on Paine's knob for w/e reason, or got shunned in their IRC for crying: "ZOMG, I DESERVE INVITE I HAVE BEEN HERE FOR LIKE 10 MINUTES."

Waffles has its share of issues(search problems, torrents needing reported, etc), but its moving along very fast. I am on STM, libble, waffles, and funky and I have to say that Waffles has presented the best chances right now.

If you are hungry for an invite, just be patient. They aren't letting anyone new in as of right now as they are still sorting out bugs and other issues on their page.

This blog has long outlived it's usefulness and is now simply masturbatory in nature. If bacon phat is so bored with his blog, then by all means - shut it down.

Dude, what happened to the hydra?

Isn't it better to have MANY good torrent sites, than ONE, let alone NONE, which is what's going to happen if everyone tears down everyone elses.

It will be pathetic if the reason we can't have a good torrent site is because we tear each other's sites down, not because of the RIAA. Although, hey, wouldn't shock me actually if the various script kiddies involved are in the employ of the RIAA, hmm.

Did anyone have a reply to those proof of membership to Oink emails?

Cos I didn't and I'm huffing and puffing now and dont know where to put myself(especially as another "dear, well respected friend" seems to have recently bitten the dust)

or at least take off the ad sense if nothing's being updated

First OiNK, now Demoniod!

Suprised there isn't a post about Demoinoid closing!

Waffles is up to 30k torrents now.

With 7.5k users.

Haha, what.cd.

I want an invite to any of these so badly. I heard about Oink from the links on Torrentbits, so that tells you how long ago that was. There were 16000 members and registration was open. I had uploaded about 700 gig, and had a ratio of 1.4.

To add insult to injury, I lost all my music when I upgraded to Leopard. No Oink and no music. I need an invite, public trackers are killing me after all that time on Oink.

Danilo Bandovic said...

probably good to note taht waffles just hit 30,000 torrents and 7600 users

please see paine's blog for an update on how to donate to a legal defense fund for OiNK, and post this information here.

thanks.

the thing about having a whole bunch of torrent sites is that the filesharing community isnt as effective when divided... the whole point of filesharing is that it's a more convenient service that provides better quality content when compared to the commercial market

if everybody splits up into a bunch of different trackers, then it's not convenient and not as capable of outshining the commercial music scene

we need a united front against the bitter, dying, old hag that is corporate music

Anonymous said...

Time to donate your GoogleAds dollars to the Oink Found, Bacon Phat.

paine trashes waffles

demonoid gets shut down

what's been down numerous times (including right now)

oink sets up a defense fund

both what and waffles have opened their invites a few times

both what and waffles are currently in free leech

and this blog hasn't been updated in 6 days... what exactly is the point of this place at this time?

I have started a private room on the SoulSeek network called "Hydra". Even though it's not officially associated with any trackers, I will be making sure that only members of Libble, Waffles, and What are allowed into the rooms.

If you want inside, just search the forums of any of those 3 communities for "SoulSeek" and you'll figure out how to join us! =)

It seems that the RIAA has gotten ahold of the what.cd user list and has sent out emails to its members. Not sure if this is a hoax. The headers appear to be coming from bitient.org. Email below:

Dear registered user of the site What.cd,

We have recently been investigating the activities of the users of the
site http://www.what.cd/ and we have found that this site exists for the
sole purpose of music piracy.

Pirating music is a criminal offence and we believe it should be obvious
to you that the results outweigh the benefits - hard working artists
won't be rewarded for their work and will stop producing music,
ultimately leading to a severely reduced selection of music both in the
shops and for download.

The RIAA had hoped that the disabling by the police of the large illegal
music site, Oink.cd, would stop a lot of people from engaging in piracy,
as they don't want to be seen as criminals. However, this appears to
not be the case, as two large new sites have sprung up in its place.

This email is the final warning to all of you who were members of
Oink.cd and are current members of What.cd. If we find you to be
committing any more criminal acts of piracy then we will have to press
charges against you, as representatives of the major record companies of
America.

Yours Faithfully,

The RIAA

What crap, that can't possibly be sent by the RIAA. It's so poorly written and has obviously been sent by a hoaxer trying to scare everyone.

Or your hoaxing us pretending you got that email!

ugh, its driving me nuts. i was a power user on oink.me.uk, a power user on oink.cd (obviously the account transfered with the move) but i didnt save my registration email, or a screen shot of my account, so i cant get an invite to anything. that makes me a very very sad boy :(

i thought the community at waffles was just rotten. and they try to say they aren't, but it just didn't come off as friendly at all. i like what.cd much better.
