I watched his dumb ass leave the station... I should have jumped him but the police following him would have came after me... dont worry he will get his.
Good! So now he can put OiNK back online. (Just keep the trackers offline.) ;) Then we should start our own donation system that will actually pay out to the artists! (And a bit for OiNK of course.) And, if the artist allows it, put up torrents for their albums. Get rid of all the record labels and other in-between-companies all together. Power to the people! :)
Good news that the owner is back home. I've used OiNK, though it was awhile ago and I didn't like it at all, it's still a bad thing when any bittorrent tracker goes down, no matter if I used it or liked it or not.
People who really support musicians, do NOT support record labels of any kind. Labels steal far more from musicians than any file sharers. Radiohead has gotten more putting their own CD on their site for donations than any time they were with a label. THERE'S the evil of labels for you.
I really hope OiNK finds a way to come back, at least the boards. I've discovered more music through the music board than anyplace else, and would hate to lose it.
i shut off my seeds, deleted all my torrents and uninstalled my torrenting software, and then i got rid of as much incriminating evidence as possible. i'm not gonna get v&.
i'm glad to hear he's not being held by the police, and i'm sorry this happened to him. oink was a great community, it was more than just a simple file sharing site. it will be missed. NEVAR FORGET.
Deleting whats already on your computer isn't going to protect you much - oink's dB has a list of everything you've ever downloaded , and your isp will have logfiles of data traffic as well.
to echo an excellent point: don't sweat the flamers, they're just people who didn't make the cut when oink was around due to loser ratios, poor quality rips or just plain ignorance and stupidity. they had nothing worthwhile to contribute to that great community, and now continue to embarrass themselves with these comments.
this is a loss of the single best music resource on the internet. it's like the burning of the library of alexandria. i don't care if it's illegal or legal: it's a major loss of something great and beautiful.
This is terrible, I would much rather see a crackdown on child molesters, drunk drivers, wife abusers, murderers, and drug dealers. Oink was a fantastic site, RIP OINK. I miss it already. Im so annoyed about this that I am going to boycott buying any music for a very long time - several months. I used to buy Cds to add to my Cd collection - well over 400 non burned Cds. Oink introduced me to countless artists I otherwise would have never known. I am currently mentally projecting vomit in the faces of all the retards who think this is a good thing. And to those of you with the " he was a criminal " defense, suck my big hairy floppy dirty peen. There are much more serious criminals walking around destroying lives. I have no sympathy for the supposed people hurt by this type of petty crime.

Maybe you can start supporting the small labels you helped to destroy now?
If you touch Oink, we will touch you. But in a different, less pleasant way.

Maybe the 'noobs' leaving these silly angry comment are people that care about music more than you do?

Will someone please post the irc link to the Oink site? I have long since forgotten it. (Perhaps the link should be on the home page, just saying.)
i never paid to be on oink, but i'll pay into this guy's legal defense fund...

Please someone just post whether the OINK irc channel is actually up or whether the feds jacked that server...
@Sean:
The IRC server is timing out, as are any other pages on the OiNK domain. Not surprising, really.
"It has been reported in the official OiNKk chat room that OiNK himself is back home and online at the moment."
Is there some other oink chat room I am completely unaware of?
Some of my torrents are still seeding... that's weird.

Yeah....I'm seeding as well...I don't think it a good idea at the moment....
