We got our new database server in, and it's working great! There was a bit of downtime earlier, as we moved the database and tracker over, but now everything is working normally again.
Due to this change, we've been able to raise the maximum number of users to 8,000 (after this point, people who have received invites will still be able to use them, but no more can be sent). However, we did a total of the number of invites earlier, and found that we had 150,742 invitations. As a result of this, one of our admins reset the number of invites - now each user only has five. We will eventually implement an invitation-handout policy, but it isn't that urgent right now as we still have over 25,000 unused invites in the database.
Also, we have another problem: Too many users are uploading, and not enough are downloading. Uploading torrents is great, and is what is going to make this place stand out - however, for the torrent economy to work, we need users to download things as well! The vast majority of users has built up a very nice buffer, so it's time to use that buffer and download things. The tracker will go to hell if you don't. So head over to the browse page and the requests section, and download things!
This sounds pretty awesome so far. We like the idea of too many torrent to download. So far what.cd is lookin' goooood. Still can't get into waffles. Any of you folks have a report to send in?

I sent an email to beau.ws (with a screenshot attached) of my invite to join oink (and a paypal details thingy) but havent heard anything yet.

Yeah, someone's finally downloading off of me .. And I don't know about the majority, but I have NO buffer. No way in hell I'm leaching till I get at least a gig up just to be on the safe side.
Hey I keep trying to log in to irc.bitient.org to join #what.cd but I keep getting "Unable to resolve server" (I tried changing my port from 6667 to 6697, but I'm not sure if/how to configure SSL?) Can someone please tell me what I'm doing stupid? I maintained a good ratio on OiNK (1.4-1.7) Thanks in advance.

I got an invite to what.cd via the IRC room and it works fine. Now when I'm on what.cd, I get redirected to some GNAA page (offensive, do a search if you want to know) with a porn wallpaper... anyone know what's going on?
I just read the stuff you should know section. I got linked to a page from a board and got over zealous when i saw some other posts. I then read the don't ask rule on the page. I also read that all posts are moderated. I am very sorry for breaking this rule. I remember how very strict the old community, and would hate to burn any bridges at its memorial site. I now know of what is developing in the scene and hopefully will find a few of my old buddies from Oink. Once again I apologize and will one day see ya'll at the power user forumn

Hi guys I would like an invitation to what.cd, but believe you me I will not seed. Snatching is my game seeding is lame. I know nothing about interesting music such as Beirut and the low water mark Gulag Orkestar, and I sure as the sun sets in the east… have not been eagerly awaiting Death Cab for Cuties latest release. Moreover I have no interest in underground/alternative hip-hop acts such as El-P and Buck 65. As far as music concerts go I am very lucky to have missed the legendary Manu Chao concert at Roskilde festival in 2001. And I am so glad that I did not have an account at Oink with a ratio of 10 and 200Gb+ in upload when the pig finally got shot down.
