Official OiNK Day of Mourning - 10/26

Submitted by Shiny

This Friday (October 26th) will be a worldwide day of mourning. I encourage everyone to dress in pink on this day. If you have a little pink breast cancer awareness ribbon thing... that little pink ribbon now symbolizes OiNK, so please wear it. Also, if you choose to listen to music (which I know is very emotional at a time like this), make it the album "In Case We Die" by Architecture in Helsinki, because that was OiNK's favorite.

At both 10:23 AM and 10:23 PM on Friday, we will recognize a 5 minute silence in honor of the tragedy.

Those Euro-police may take our database, but they will never uncurl these piggy tails.

NEVER FORGET.

-----

We are behind this 100 percent. We already have our outfit picked out. Send in pictures of your pink garb for us to proudly display.

I have started a facebook group dedicated to OiNK, "RIP OiNK". It's a great way to get the new developments to everyone around the world quickly, join today and get all your news from there.

I agree with the premise, but the pink ribbon bit should be removed.

Although this was a tragedy, breast cancer is a greater tragedy. Losing our wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends to breast cancer is a terrible thing, the pink ribbon is meant to bring hope for a cure, let's not disrespect that premise.

Wear pink, make t-shirts, create photo tributes to oink, but don't drag other causes into this.

Although the entire music community took a hit this week let us express our grief with dignity and respect.

Ok, ok, sorry. The pink ribbons still mean "breast cancer awareness". But OiNK gets everything else that is pink. It's just really hard when you know of 2 pink things that symbolize tragedies. What would YOU do under pressure? Cut me some slack. My heart goes out to your recovery.

I would even take out the wearing pink thing. Especially since this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that is really disrespectful to those of us who have lost loved ones to cancer.

Yeah, in the UK at least your supposed Oink day of mourning is the national everybody wear something pink to highlight your support for the fight against breast cancer. Not only are you trying to co-opt their colour, your trying to co-opt their everybody wear pink special day.

It's not anyone's fault that pigs are pink.

I do feel bad for originally suggesting that we take the meaning out of the breast cancer ribbons though. That's what a night of crying and a lack of new pre-release albums will do to you. It was thoughtless on my part, and I know that's the main reason of why we're having this debate right now. Cancer is a very serious issue, and nothing should replace the support against its evils.

Anyway, OiNK pink is slightly darker than breast cancer pink, so technically we aren't stealing that specific part of the spectrum.

This collective mourning is just all a part of the healing process, and pink represents OiNK. Roses don't fight with red table cloths over the color, so why should we fight here?

We need to purge our emotions with each other. So let's not hold anything back.

Ok onwards,
Lets just look at this in a positive way, not only are you supporting the tragedy of oink, but also breast cancer ;)

See, now you seem twice the gentleman, and still a pirate (For lack of better term)

Oink will leave a massive hole in my life, it was more than just a place to "download illegal pre release music" (which only accounted for a very small amount of the activity on oink anyway...) It was a community of people who loved music, pure and simple. Its users cared about each other and helped to share their rare music, most of witch would be almost impossible to obtain any other way. It introduced me to so many awesome artists that i would never have gone out and purchased if i had seen their cd in a store, now im a fan and if the album is that good i will buy it and see them on tour if they come to my town. Oinks users were not morons who just flame each other because it makes them feel important (a la torrentspy etc.). I actually has many intelligent discussions and received a lot of good help from people when i was just a newbie starting out. Anyone who bags oink and its users are just sad little people with clearly no music in their life. Goodbye oink, i will miss you dearly.

"why can't we share this month??? breast cancert is bad....really bad but so is this turn of events"

You are an idiot. If you ever lost anyone to cancer, you would understand how horrible and stupid that statement was.

And you misspelled cancer.

cancer is a sensitive subject, but with all due respect i think everyone needs to calm down. my mother died of cancer; i spent most of my childhood and adolescence watching her go in and out of remission. it's a terrible, painful thing and i don't think anyone here is belittling that or deminishing the significance of the pink ribbon. wearing pink in rememberance of oink is very unrelated from breast cancer and in no way insulting. it's meant as a tribute, and anyone who doesn't know it's for oink would assume it to be for breast cancer (if anything), so i don't really understand why people are getting up in arms.
we're on the same side here. solidarity, people.
