Where do we go next?

The question most important to OiNK users now is "where do we go next"? Well maybe not most important, the first one is really, "Am I going to get sued?". We all know there is nothing we can do about that except to stop seeding and to low level format your hard drives.

I'm kidding, don't low level format. Send them to me to destroy the data for you.

Anywho, there have been a few sites mentioned here and there. Most of them are invite only have have anywhere from 2k-5k users. A paltry amount compared to the reports that OiNK had 180k.

It has also been said that the other sites mostly got their content from OiNK to begin with.

I'd love to list these other sites but I have no idea how the site owners feel. Some might want the press and other may be happy with their piddling amount of data throughput.

So rather than be the target of hatred from Bit Torrent site admins I'll let the commenters do it!

Where are you going next?

I'll be a douche and name some other options:
indie torrents has non-riaa music only. If you think OiNKs admins were dicks these guys are exponentially worse.
audionews.ru and proaudiotorrents.org has music appz

So how do I low-level format my hard drive?

Yeah that is really smart libble.com is hosted in Las Vegas NV, that is just begging for trouble. If Amsterdam is bad the US would be even worse.
http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=!NET-66-196-43-0-1&server=whois.arin.net
It’s hosted by a company called http://infinitie.net/ that appears to only have a single class C of IP Space.
I am a skeptical/suspicious person but I would suspect and distrust any Torrent site hosted in the US.

I have an idea. Please, read this, and if you like it, it's time to get to work.

First, we need to spread the word for all OiNK users to come to a certain webpage. This blog, a forum, but it's got to be fast. We make them all come and then we decide to start a new server in Sweden or Denmark. No joke, if the site is up and running, we might try the paypal account to get it to work again.

The thing is, right now everyone has spread around. OiNK used to be a community, so they better keep acting as one. We ALL have to keep together. Why do I say this? Because we might pull it off as the "09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0" guys did it. It is possible, to do this. We might ask for help to some other torrent webpage, so we get to run a parallel site for lossless music. It's not about the 180 000 users, it's about our integrity as internet users and our right to do what we believe in.

What do you do next? send a complaint about the actions of the Cleveland Police (http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/index/complainants/how_complaint.htm) for spending time on a "take down" of a website admin instead of putting that time to better use...say protecting the public!

A low level format wouldn't do it. They could still go after the data in most cases as it is still residually there. What you need to do is use a overwrite utility that switches between a series of 1's and 0's and reverses it 5-6 times. Low level format is nothing compared to that, it's what the DOE etc. use before destroying a drive. EX. http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/
I've never used that particular one but it should do the trick. Be careful if you do this you may have to reinstall your OS if you aren't careful.

I like Snipe's idea. We should get a fund started right away for getting a server in a neutral country. We'll never have oink back but if we can let a lot of the community know what's going on and get something else started it would be a huge step forward

i bet the IFPI and cleveland police are reading this right now, giggling and high fiving....

yeh don't worry guys, take a break and spend some time listening to everything you already have. By the time you know it, a new site will be up and running :)

don't worry about another site!

just stop. It's time to stop.

yeah that's a great idea. newsflash: you're not merely being a douche. think about it.

please remove those torrent site suggestions, you're just inviting negative attention against other BT admins

I hope those organizations think that this is money well spent, because soon something else will replace it. They've made nearly zero damage in file sharing in the long run. They will see no increased revenue, especially since they're acting like big bad wolves gobbling up the little piggies. No one respects them more and music lovers are just going through serious withdrawal until they can get their fix. Something else that is beautiful and elegant will come, OiNK users just better hope that they're lucky enough to hop on that bandwagon just like they were able to with the pink palace.

Go and download emule:

www.emule-project.net

this is absolutely the way to go, No servers to destroy(using the KAD Network) and the client is open source so there is nothing they can do if they shoutdown the main site and capture the owner.
